How to Get Unstuck

If people just started learning how to use their brain a little more differently they’d learn how to get unstuck; they’d learn how to be happier and have a lot more fun.

That question “why” never, ever solves a problem. People use it all the time to solve problems and the only thing it does is keep them stuck… really stuck – and here’s why:

Let’s say you went to the mechanic to get your brakes checked. After the inspection the mechanic comes back and tells you that your break lines are damaged.  That’s why your brakes don’t work as well as they could be working. He’s telling you why your brakes don’t work – but knowing why never, EVER helps you solve the problem of getting your brakes fixed.

But people insist on knowing why their life is not working; why their boyfriend dumped them and why they lost their job. They somehow think that by putting all their energy and attention on why it happened will change things – and it never does.  Knowing why you have a problem never solves the problem.

The solution: Stop putting so much attention and focus on that question “why” and start focusing on a new set of questions; higher level questions that get you out of that problematic state and into a more resourceful solution state. Start asking yourself:

  • What’s the best way to handle this so that I come out a winner?
  • What’s the most creative way to solve this issue?
  • How can I use this problem to my benefit?
  • How can this problem make me a better person?

Get into the habit of asking better questions and stay focused. Better questions get you into a better-feeling state so that you can come up with better solutions and create a better life.

This isn’t the only way to get unstuck.  I’m sure you’ve found lots of different ways to get unstuck and get going again.  What creative methods have you used to help you get unstuck?

The way I’ve learned to get “unstuck” is to remind myself that I’m never stuck. Energy never stops. It’s always in motion. If it looks like I’m stuck, it’s just that I’m creating the same thing over and over by continuing to offer the same vibration on a particular subject. So I start with your great advice–the ask the right question–and I ask, “What do you want?” If my desire on a subject is too tenuous, in other words, I’m offering too much of a vibration of lack on it because I’ve wanted it for so long and it’s not here yet, I specifically shift my attention to another subject about which I can offer a higher vibration because I can find a thought about it that makes me feel good. Bottom line is, to get “unstuck,” you need to find a way to feel better.
